The pre-enrollment on-line application does not guarantee that a spot is available; if there are more applications than seats available in a grade then students will be added to our  waiting list on a first-come, first-served basis.

Enrollment Information

César Chávez Academy is a free, public school and adheres to all requirements outlined by its charter and federal and state law regarding enrollment.
  • Current students are given the opportunity to re-enroll in late winter, with preference given to them and their siblings.
  • The academy holds an advertised open enrollment period in March. Any Michigan resident may apply. Applications will be accepted at the school office during this time.
  • An advertised public lottery is held annually to determine enrollment and establish the order of the waiting list.
  • The academy does not charge tuition nor discriminate in admissions policies or practices on the basis of intellectual or athletic ability, measures of achievement or aptitude, status as a handicapped person, religion, creed, race, sex, color or national origin.
  • The academy identifies, evaluates and services all children in the school who may have disabilities. For more information regarding assistance for students with disabilities or if you suspect your child may have a disability, please contact the school leader.
Re-enrollment and Open Enrollment

César Chávez Academy will offer re-enrollment to its existing students in February. Each current student must return a re-enrollment form to secure his/her spot for the next school year.

César Chávez Academy will accept open enrollment applications in March. Students may apply to César Chávez Academy by filing out an application with the following documents:

* Birth certificate
* Shot record
* Current report card
* Parent/Guardian ID
* Physical (Kindergarten students only)

If your child receives services for special needs, please also include a copy of the most current IEP.

If the number of applicants for a classroom exceeds the space available, a random selection lottery will take place. Dates and times will be announced.

César Chávez Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age in its programs and activities. The following person has been designated to handle inquiries regarding the non-discrimination policies:
